Plate Weaving

In room 7 we have been doing a lot of weaving with Mrs Weild. The first piece of weaving we did was a really cool bookmark, we then made these plates, the third one we did was a cup weaving around it and lastly we did, well are doing a really cool piece of weaving that looks like a snakes tail. For all the weaving we have done this term we have been using the over and under method to weave really cool, creative things.I find this really fun and at first a bit confusing. They all turn out really cool. For the snake tail one we are going to weave all the finished ones around a hula hoop. To make the plate we had to find a moment or picture to do with Matariki and colour them. We then used a loom to mark line around our plates there ended up being 19 lines altogether. We cut where ever there was a line about one and a half centimetres deep.We then had to make what looks like the beginning of a cob web. Once the plate was ready we could start the weaving. We got given seven beads for the seven sisters and slid them in where we wanted. This is how my plate turned out.
