Night Walk

Night walk

Pitch black, crying, screaming. Almost everyone was scared. “No talking or the alarms will go off,” whispered Hannah the museum lady. The class slowly started silently walking in to the dark room, lined up in a train, where each person held onto the person in front’s shoulders. We walked further into where bells started ringing and every time a bell rung, one of the Dads would reach out from under the table and grab your legs. After I had been grabbed about three times I started to walk beside the rails. I couldn’t just feel the hands of all the dads but some of them I could also see. In front of me was Mum. I couldn’t quite walk holding onto her shoulders so instead I held onto her waist. Once we got out of the room where we were being foot-tripped, we went into the room where the lions were (Sonia and Sultan). Hannah told a scary story about lions, monkeys and tigers while the Dads made noises that sounded exactly like the animal they were trying to be. As she told the story I got a little bit scared but didn’t cry at all. I sat on the mat listening to the story while people began to get scarder. I felt like going over to sit by Mum but she was on a seat by the rails not by me. ‘Yah I can see again’ I thought when the lights flickered on.

In room four we have been writing recounts about a moment in time.
I have done mine about the night walk that the class did when we were at camp last year.
I hope you can get a picture in your head when you read my story.

Haiku poem, Bees

Bees
Yellow and black stripes,
Makes yummy honey in hives,
Has painful stings, OUCH!

When you are writing a haiku poem you need to make sure that,
Line one=5 syllables
Line two=7 syllables
Line three=5 syllables
Make sure you write that much syllables not words!
If you need to you can use you hand and clap or count every syllable.

Cross country recount

"On your marks get set GO!" Everyone charged towards the front hoping not to get stuck behind anyone that's slower than them, but that didn't work out too well for me. I got stuck behind Briar from Waitahuna and I couldn't pass her because it was a very skinny track. I sprinted as fast as I could. Suddenly the track grew wider so I passed three other people and was then running in fourth place, hard out. My legs were getting tired, I was getting hot. As we came around the frog pond that was when I wanted to jump in it, but I didn't. "Go girls go your almost finished" Mrs O echoed 2 or three times. I carried on running up the hill to were the finish line was waiting for me. I ran and ran, passed the finishing in fourth place. 'Phew i'm glad that's over for another year' I thought to myself.

Faces!

In room 4 we have been doing poetry writing with one our teachers Mrs O Today I have made a poem about faces. Here it is.

FACES!

Freckled faces,
Wrinkly faces,
Old, young, fancy faces
Pale, White, Black faces
Those are just a few

Children's faces,
Adult faces,
Big, fat, smiley faces,
Up on heads faces,
Babies faces too

Friendly faces,
Mean faces,
Don't forget naughty faces
Last of all, Best of all,
I like girl faces.

My speech

We have had the junior speech competition. There were only 6 people in the class that got chosen there was 4 year threes and 2 year 4's and I was one of the year 4's that got chosen. My speech topic was that the world would be a better place without war. Maybe you would like to read along as you listen to it. I hope that you like it.

BOMBS! GUNFIRE! EXPLOSIONS! DEATH! INJURY! DESTRUCTION! - This is war.
We are lucky to be living in a quiet peaceful country like New Zealand because New Zealand is a war free zone. We may not have war around us but when we watch the TV, both day and night, we see all the destruction that has happened because of the war. The world would DEFINITELY be a better place without war!

Can you imagine babies, children, men and women dying horribly for no reason? Innocent people from all around the world are getting caught up in the war around them. People’s houses are being crushed and they are losing their family members because of bombs being dropped around their houses. People can be seriously injured by the war and can lose body parts like arms, legs and even their eyesight. These are horrible things that happen to innocent people caught up in war.

Would you want you children to be shot, bombed or kidnapped? Children are very seriously affected by the war surrounding them. Children grow up in a world of fear and terror because of  the war happening all around them. The children are always looking for a place that is safe for an escape. They can’t even go outside without being in danger or worrying about being killed as they play. Children are having to go  to hospital because of serious injuries and their family members are dying or getting hurt.Children should be able to play freely with their friends and enjoy being kids.

War affects the whole world.  In 2002 there was the  9 11 bombing where 4 American airlines were hijacked by terrorists  and 2 planes crashed into the twin towers causing massive fires and the building collapsed. The united airline flight was headed for Washington D.C but crashed into a field near Shanksville instead. The united airlines flight 77 crashed into the headquarters of the united department of defence. These hijackings caused more than 5000 deaths and affected the entire world.

In more recent times bombs have been dropped and buildings have blown up. A hospital has been blown up by bombs as well.  Several weeks ago 295 people were killed when the M H 17 was shot down in a warzone. These innocent passengers and crew  weren’t even a part of it. Countries all over the world, including NZ, were affected by this needless tragedy. You might think you haven’t been affected by war, but you have - petrol is more expensive because the countries that produce petrol make it more expensive to pay for their weapons.

To further support my speech countries like New Zealand, Australia, England and America are sending soldiers to help protect the innocent people affected by war in their countries. Sadly, some of the soldiers that get sent to war get killed and never return home. The soldiers families lives are ruined, because the soldier is badly injured or dies. Can you imagine sending a family member off to fight a war and then they never come home? That would be awful.

War is a dangerous situation to be in. Soldiers get killed, innocent people die and cities and buildings are ruined. Lives are destroyed as more and more people die and get badly injured. Everyone in the world is affected by war. It is no situation for anyone to live in I wish that every single person from all over the world could live in a nice peaceful country like New Zealand and have a happy life. The world would be a much better place without war!

Happiness is spending time with my family.

Happiness is presents on Christmas day.

Happiness is enjoying your life.

Happiness is rooms filled with laughter and joy.

Happiness is the day a new baby is born.

Happiness is making new friends at school.

Happiness is all over the world.

Happiness is the opposite of sadness.

My friend is really a robot.

My friend Lanie once became a robot when she was four and a half years old. The way she became a robot was when she first learnt how to do the monkey bars. So one day when we were on school visits she tried to show me so when Lanie did the monkey bars it was a rainy day and when Lanie reached half way she slipped and fell but before she reached the ground a 12 foot hole formed beneath her and she fell down it. Lanie was trapped down the hole for four days so in the hole lived 2482 robots so she had to eat their food although she paid no attention to what she was eating because she was eating rotten cabbages, slugs, worms, caterpillars and completly  frozen solid meat. Ater about two days since she got trapped down the hole and went missing she figured that she had turned into a robot her self and had the powers of flying then flew straight out the top of the 12 foot hole.

Otago rugby players came to visit

we have had some Otago rugby players come to visit our school over lunch time. Children from lots of different classes got autographs and photos with them. We played a game of shark attack in the tennis courts with them. The Otago players were on their way to Alexandra

My cube net

In room 4 we have been learning about perimeter and what perimeter is and
I made the cube. On a cube there is 12 edges 6 faces and 8 corners. I have made this cube all on my own without any help so I hope that you like it. Maybe you could try making a goggle drawing yourself.

Cylinder

In room 4 we have been learning about perimeter so I have made a cylinder. In a cylinder there is 2 edges 0 corners and 3 faces.

Chocolate description

The chocolate had the writing of Cadburys pressed into the top of it. Huge pieces of licorice stick out of the side. The chocolate  is long and thin with the tingly bits on every side. It smells delicious and makes me hungry. The chocolate reminds me of Easter time. It feels like little bumps from the writing. At the parts where it had been pulled apart there are bumps and lumps. The chocolate started to melt on my tongue while the tiny little tingly bits dropped and fell out of the chocolate. I started to bite down on it as it got thinner and thinner then it all fell apart. All of the small pieces of chocolate raced down my throat until there was no more. When I had finished my big delicious clump of chocolate I realised there was still room for me to fit another piece of it down in my tummy.

My speech from 2013

Swimming, piano, biking, guitar, running,Flute. These are all kinds of music and sport but which one do you like the best? If I had to choose one then I would choose sport the  best  and if you want to know. Well I’m going to tell you.

Firstly  you can become really famous playing sport like Mark Todd,Valerie Adams and Nikki Jenkins . When you play sport you usually go to A LOT of places round the world and play in front of huge crowds then lots of people get to know you. Especially if  you're in the Olympics. If you play music you do go all round the world for it but you don’t go to as many places or play in front of as many people.

Secondly you could do  sport  by yourself or as a team. When you're  playing music it’s usually in a team which takes LOTS AND LOTS of PRACTICE to get it right. Except when you’re playing sport you do have to practice just not as much because it is not as hard as it is when you playing music.

Finally it will make you fit. In sport you are always either Biking,Swimming or Running and if  you’re doing those three things then you will be moving and you will get the stitch. But if you get the stitch thats actually really good because it means you’re working really hard. So if you ever get the stitch you must be doing really well at whatever sport or activity   you’re doing. But if you play music you can’t really get the stitch because you’re not moving enough to get it.

This is why sport is better than music and just to remind you here are some of my ideas you can become famous, it will make you fit, you could do sport by yourself or as a team. And so this is why i think SPORT IS BETTER THAN MUSIC!

Climbing wall

Rendered Image
Our turn was finally over and it was time for our group to play squash…… I had excitedly asked Lanie “ What wall do you want to climb first?” . The first wall that I climbed looked easy so I tried to climb up it but it was not as easy as I thought. The wall I climbed looked like a big tall apartment building and every square was a different colour. Later that hour I tried climbing a wall blindfolded. It took me a while to get to the top because I couldn’t find a hole. As I climbed higher and higher I could feel sweat breaking in my skin and that made my hands slippery, which caused nerves because I thought that I would slip and fall. So I might have hurt myself, but luckily I didn’t. At last I made it to the top and pushed the button, which took about a minute to find. Then I took off the hat and I could see again. I loved the climbing walls. I wish that we could go back there again. Then finally our turn was over...
